Well, I have officially been silent from the blogging world for a year. I can’t believe it’s already been that long.
However, in my defense, in the past year I have gotten engaged, purchased a house, and made a large dent in wedding planning.
It’s amazing how quickly things change. Sometimes, you’re desperate for a not-so-great situation to be over, other times you’re just excited for the good to come. But, to quote Darius Rucker, it’s important to realize that no matter what phase of life you’re in, or what you have going on, remember ‘it won’t be like this for long.’
For example, my future husband and I are in the process of doing some rather substantial updates to our new home. When I get frustrated that I still don’t have a couch, or even floors, I’ve reminded myself to appreciate this time. Before I know it, we’ll be settled here for ten years and have a litter of children underfoot.
These are moments, no matter how small or temporarily inconvient, I won’t ever get back again.
So the next time your anxious for something, remember that the current moment does not last as long as any of us could hope for. Appreciate the now.
