I was on my way to a doctor’s appointment and I realized that I had a good 20 minutes of time before I needed to be there. I had a Dunkin’ Donuts gift card, so I swung by one to satisfy my iced coconut coffee addiction. The baristas were friendly, as Dunkin’ usually isn’t it’s busiest at 3:45 in the afternoon.
One however, was particularly loud with everything she said. I could see she was a bit of an annoyance to her coworkers, one of which said to me, “I apologize for her volume! I’ve been trying to get her to quiet down for a few hours but it hasn’t worked. I have such a headache and she isn’t helping!”
I sympathized with her and asked if she had taken any tylenol for her headache. She reluctantly admitted she didn’t have any, otherwise she would have. I paid and got my coffee, thanked her, and went to my car.
I always keep tylenol “to-go” packs with me in my school bag. I quickly grabbed one and ran back inside. I handed it to her with a simple, “I hope you feel better!” and went on my way.
Hopefully, the rest of her shift went a bit better!
