So this was a really big one for me… I survived my first field trip. Not as a chaperone, not as an accompanying paraprofessional, but as the teacher in charge.
One of the teachers at school has both pneumonia and strep throat, but had a field trip scheduled for today. She specifically requested that I be the only one to take her place on the trip, otherwise she would come in and drag herself through the day. Luckily, she was able to stay home and rest as I was put in her place.
You know what? No one died!
I didn’t lose any children, no one was hurt or needed medical attention, there were no accidents needing a change of clothing, nothing.
I felt so accomplished by the end of the trip! I was absolutely EXHAUSTED, but I had so much fun.
We went to the Imagine Nation Museum in Bristol, CT. It was great to let the kids ‘run wild’ in a safe, enclosed environment while they didn’t realize that they were learning through every activity they chose.
Here are just a few snapshots of the day!
