the littlest hug

It was dismissal time, and the bus was called for several of my 5th graders I was with today.  Some shuffled out the door without much more than a wave.  Most made sure to say “Bye Miss Kivela!” before heading outside.

However, one adorable girl, as she walked past me, paused, cocked her head, and looked at me.  You could tell she was thinking hard for about 2 seconds.  Next thing I knew, she threw her arms around me in a hug and said, “I love you, Miss Kivela!”  Then skipped out the door.

It’s those small moments that go seemingly unnoticed, but mean so much in the moment. <3
