the littlest change

One year ago today, I was completely blindsided.  My life permanently changed for the better and I had no clue.  A life calling that I had been ignoring, finally came up to me, grabbed me by the cheeks the way your Aunt Ethel used to when you were young, and said, “LOOK.  THIS IS WHERE YOU BELONG.”

A year ago today, I met the 22 students I will forever refer to as my “nuggets.”  I walked into the classroom of someone who I thought I would only spend three days with, and now call her my “sissy nugget.”  A year ago, none of us could have predicted the strong bond we would make over the next 9 months, or how profound an impact they would make on my life.  I’m so thankful for all of the lessons they taught me, for the way they showed me how to view life, and for reassuring me that it is perfectly fine to change all of my life plans.  I didn’t know it then, but a year ago today was the first step toward getting me on the path that I am on now, and I couldn’t be more grateful.  I am beyond excited for what my future holds and for the years of nuggets to come.
