the littlest fate

I’ve been thinking a lot about fate. How you can make as many plans as you’d like, but God is sitting up there just laughing, because he has much bigger and better plans for you. For example, my life right now is completely different from what I had anticipated it would be.

I was supposed to be working on my masters in marine biology. I was supposed to be on the road to a PhD and teaching at the college level. The last thing I anticipated was staying at home for the past year and working as a long-term substitute in a 5th grade classroom. I wasn’t supposed to be back at camp this summer, let alone be a director of camp. I wasn’t supposed to be starting my masters in elementary education this fall, or interning in an adorable school district. But I am.

I truly believe that everything happens for a reason, and that as much as you may fight it, fate will take its course. I’ve found the phrase, “que será, será” (translated: “what will be, will be”) is truer than ever.

So if you’re in a situation that you’re very worried about what is coming next, or you don’t know if your plan is going to work out, relax. If its meant to happen, the pieces will fall together perfectly. If it isn’t, it won’t work out. Just accept the fact that there is a plan out there for you far grander than you can possibly imagine.
