the littlest nuggets

There are 22 fifth grade nuggets that permanently and forever changed my life- my career path, my emotions, and my outlook on life. They’ve showed me how important it is to appreciate the little things that life has to offer, how much a teacher can impact the life of a child, and how much they can grow in one year! It has been incredibly rewarding to see them grow and blossom from timid little fourth graders into soon-to-be sixth graders, behaviorally, physically, and most important- emotionally. I have seen them all (yes, even the occasionally difficult one) develop a sense of empathy and general concern for other people- the biggest accomplishment a teacher could ask for from her students. Something as simple as the usually “loud and obnoxious” student taking the hand of a special needs student to make sure she doesn’t fall. It warms my heart to see them develop into good caring individuals.

As the school year comes to a close and I have my next couple years planned out, I am more appreciative than ever of the luck I struck to find these kids. All I can hope for, is that I’ve made a fraction of a positive impact on their lives as they have on mine. :)
