the littlest luck

Today I’ve done a lot of thinking about how lucky I am in regards to the people I’ve been blessed with in my life. It’s so easy to focus on the negative that people often forget to appreciate the positive, myself included.

I have been blessed with an incredible family. My parents are so good to me, and still so in love after (almost) 26 years of marriage. My siblings and I have reached the point that were mature enough to not kill each other all the time. Yes, as any brother-sister-sister trio will, we occasionally have our tiffs, but they are not nearly as frequent as they once were.

My adopted family is just as wonderful- my Aunt Christine and Uncle Richie. They are always there for me when I need anything from advice to help moving a BBQ grill. My ‘sissy nugget’ Tanya and her two little peanuts have literally filled the roles of older sister and nieces in my life. I can’t believe how lucky I was to literally stumble upon them.

I had the chance to meet one of my college roommates tonight for dinner before she moves to Paris for her new job. As always, it was WONDERFUL to see her. We are so alike in many ways, and she is one of the few people that I can speak to freely without concern of her judging me for my opinions. I have been so lucky and blessed to have her in my life for three years now. She’s one of those friends that no matter how much time we spend apart or the number of miles between us- it’ll be like we never missed a beat when we see each other again. Not many people are fortunate to find a person like that in their lives, but I was. I guess karma does have a way of coming back around.

Count your blessings, kids. There is always a silver lining to every cloud. :)
